Craniosacral Therapy Certification Programs

The CRC offers two levels of certification:

Classical Craniosacral Therapy - 125 hours

Advanced Craniosacral Therapy - 250 hours

Certification in Classical Craniosacral Therapy

This program is intended for students with little or no prior exposure to craniosacral therapy. It educates the student in the fundamental anatomy, physiology, and techniques of sensitive biomechanics and functional craniosacral work. The focus of instruction is on working with osseous and membranous structures in a fluid manner. Mostly indirect techniques are taught, with some time devoted to direct action. Students who complete this training will be equipped to utilize craniosacral therapy as a significant part of their clinical practice. We call our approach to this training "sensitive biomechanics" because great care is given to exploring the needs of the system without taking it to situations of overwhelm. Our classical protocol is based on approaches found in several different schools of craniosacral therapy.

This program is also very useful for graduates of 10-level biodynamic trainings. It equips the student with time-proven functional and mechanical techniques, which can greatly augment biodynamic work in many clinical situations.

Components of Certification:

Required Classes:
Classical CST I
Classical CST II

Documented Practice Sessions:
8 following the first class
8 following the second class.
These are reviewed by the instructor and verbal feedback is provided via audio file.

Written Exam:
A written test covering anatomy, physiology, and theory will be administered anytime after the second class has been completed. A passing score is 80.

Practical Exam:
The student must display competency of all three protocols in a practical examination with the instructor.

Adequate completion of all elements earns the student certification in Classical Craniosacral Therapy.

Certification in Advanced Craniosacral Therapy

The advanced certification track is for graduates of the CRC classical program or students with prior training from other schools. The advanced program is based on a biodynamic model of craniosacral work. It requires a very different mindset than traditional, or biomechanical work. This training involves accessing delicate states of consciousness - the ability to hold a mature and appropriate therapeutic presence is essential.
Students with training from other schools who wish to explore the biodynamic approach at the CRC should contact Ryan to discuss their prior training and compatibility with the program.

Components of Certification:

Required Classes:
Biodynamics I
Biodynamics II
Biodynamics III
Biodynamics IV
Biodynamics V
Biodynamics VI

Documented Practice Sessions:
30 client write-ups are required in total, submitted in groups of ten. These are reviewed by the instructor and verbal feedback is returned via audio file.

Written Exam:
A written test covering the main topics of each level is administered after the final class. Passing grade is 70.

Practical Exam:
The student is required to administer a treatment to the instructor.

Adequate completion of all elements earns the student certification designation in Advanced Craniosacral Therapy.
